It’s not even that she was studying non-stop since childhood. When you’re high school age in college classes, the Angry Cat Light Men’s Value T Shirt kids in your class aren’t going to want to hang with you outside of cram sessions (and maybe not even then). And I would suspect it was even worse in grad school because she couldn’t legally drink until AFTER she got her MBA. It was probably extremely socially isolating for her so a lot of the things you learn from hanging out and talking about what is going on with your life gave her a miss. So yeah she would likely be particularly vulnerable to a dude who sees her and isn’t intimidated by her achievements and sees her as “high value.” And he doesn’t even have to do the hard work of socially isolating her to ensure his hold over her because she probably already is. I honestly feel badly for her and that baby.

SMeyer has a lot of Angry Cat Light Men’s Value T Shirt beliefs and has written some truly heinous shit into her books but on this side of the Twilight craze I find myself with a mingling of pity and respect for her that I would never afford to a parasite like James. I never get the impression that she wanted any of the sort of fame and attention she was saddled with as the result of Twilight – she just wanted to write her funky little vampire book about her funky little OCs and share them with like-minded folks and got quite frankly a terrifying degree of attention in return, both positive and negative. I am entirely too white and not American enough to speak on how her fumbled depictions of native people in her books may have hurt them but I do think overall that a world without Meyer’s creative energy in it would be a lot duller and that she’s maintained a shocking amount of dignity and grace in the face of the storms of positive and negative energy that have rocked her life since the first book came out.
