Jesus Christ, who the fuck holds an intervention to convince someone to abort or give a kid up for adoption? Like, we should absolutely support people who chose to do those of their own free will, but trying to push them into one of those decisions is just begging for emotional damage and resentment later on. Also, of course the barren comment was phrased in the most asshole way possible, but it is entirely accurate that someone will feel very differently towards a wanted pregnancy vs someone with an unwanted pregnancy. It doesn’t matter how pro-choice someone can be in their politics, if they want a pregnancy, they will feel plenty of emotional attachment to that clump of cells.

I really like TLJ for all the Cat I’m Not Being Weird You’re Weird Shirt. For me personally, the lack of cohesion of story and character and lack of larger political narrative of the sequel trilogy is really what puts me off from it, but I really like TLJ as a film in a vacuum. It’s a good movie that’s really trying to be Star Wars. Personally, I have a complicated history with it. First, I thought it was mediocre, then I really liked it, then I didn’t like it at all, and now I’m at a point where I think it has a few fundamental flaws in regards to how it interprets Star Wars, but Rian understood that to be Star Wars you have to be different. You need a theme about family and a theme about politics, and TLJ has both of those. There are things I don’t like about it sure, things that I really would rather have not happened, but those things don’t ruin the movie, much less ruin Star Wars for me. And I think it’s really sad that some people let their hatred of the ST dominate their Star Wars experience. It’s like they took nothing away from this very franchise.
