Ok, so I’ll tell you this as nicely as I can. I had a Cat Tropical Floral Persisan Cat Hawaiian Shirt (not in relation to this hobby but I think it still applies). It didn’t work out because you’ll be basically be forced to choose between your hobby and your gf. To me, at worst what a partner should do about a hobby is “not care”. Anything that goes lower than that isn’t worth the name of partner. Your SO does not have to understand “why” you like / enjoy it but only that you do and that should be more than enough. It is something you can spend your time and enjoy i.e. that makes you happy. I am so, so glad my long-time SO cares and sometimes even plays warhammer with me mostly because she wants to spend time with me doing things I like not because she particularly likes it (she can’t stand painting which is entirely ok.) About “waste of time”, maybe a bit nihilistic on that end from me but ultimately nothing you or I or Cat Tropical Floral Persisan Cat Hawaiian Shirt will do in this world will last forever and that’s ok. We are passing through this life (which is limited) and get to choose how we spend that time, hopefully with things we enjoy. Most things we do can be argued to be pointless. Why watch that new movie / tv show / read book? Why go wandering in the mountains / beach / forest? Why learn an instrument / language? Ultimately, most things we do is to enjoy our time here on earth and to be entirely honest, painting little toy soldiers has been, to me at least, a great artistic outlet for someone that is not all too artistic by himself.
