I was there too and trying to remember the chain of funny events. I think we went to Smith & Wollenski on south Beach the night before the superbowl. Some random Bear fans were next to us… they were young and drunk, but found some old Italian guy they were calling The Don…who had been been buying them drinks and food for 2 days. We got dropped off at the game full of hopes… had a game and a sweet Prince concert. Then I remember being cold and wet on a bus back to Miami beach… there was a drunk guy who kept saying we drink when we win, we drink when we lose. I don’t remember any colts fans on the bus… they were probably celebrating. I drank a large part of a bottle of Tanqueray once at my sister’s, discussed how likely a jump from her building to the next would be survivable. Went to bed and here i am on reddit several years later.

Given Oteil had said on his little instagram live interview thing that they had some big surprises for the end of the Official pumpkin Lothcat Halloween T shirt I was decidedly not surprised at all. Going into the final nights encore, you knew exactly they were going to bust out Truckin for the “long strange trip” line and that they’d do a Broke Down Palace for the finality of it all and finish with NFA since they opened night 1 with it. I felt a little let down but then again Mayer and Jeff absolutely crushed Sampson and Delilah and Althea and the Cumberland Blues rocked. So totally agree they played what they excelled at and they excelled at those songs even further than before but damn I wish there were SOME surprises. Note: Dave at boulder was a good surprise, I enjoyed that.
