When something is super popular it reaches a lot of people who won’t like it. And when something is really popular or hyped and continuously talked about, people who might otherwise move on from a disappointing book, feel the need to share their side. To save someone else from the waste of time and disappointment that they got from the book. Or even to just not feel like they’re going crazy, because like it’s this everyone is raving about this? If you read a lot, you’ll inevitably end up on both sides and it all washes out. I hated Twilight and the Alchemist but some people love them and that’s valid! I loved This is How You Lose the Time War and Piranesi but some people hate them and that’s valid! As long as you’re not invalidating someone’s opinion or telling them how to feel about a book, it’s all free game. Especially on a general forum. If that review was posted in this sub, it’d be petty and mean, but posted in the general books sub is valid. You are free to post your opinion of maas as well!

This is part of why I adored Luke was a Proud Cat Dad For Proud Fathers Of Cats And Kittens Shirt Did I expect it? Hell no! But I loved it. I loved that he made a mistake, like his teachers before him, and he ran off and sulked on a isolated world, like his teachers before him. One of my favorite scenes in all of Star Wars now is Yoda showing up to him and basically just saying “We blew it, you blew it because we blew it, she doesn’t have to repeat our mistakes, it’s probably better that she can learn her own path instead of following us down the wrong one.” I think people have gotten so attached to the nostalgia of Star Wars that they get upset any time it doesn’t perfectly deliver on their wish fulfillment. Personally just adored the idea that Luke and Yoda could both go “Yes we’re powerful, and yes, we’ve made powerful mistakes.”
